Paper Abstract:
|
This research study features the experience of American (AA), a leading casual fashion apparel manufacturer, distributor, wholesaler, and retailer in deploying the firms radio frequency identification (RFID) initiative as a way of laying the foundation for attaining omnichannel retailing capabilities. AA is now owned by Montreal-based Canadian firm, Gildan. The prize to be obtained is inventory accuracy; this study focuses on attempts to reach inventory management improvements in the retail stores and other parts of the firms supply chain. The RFID exploration of AA is successful. This research study also uses the qualitative research method of content analysis of conference transcripts of talks given by a key AA executive who deployed their RFID initiative in the 2012 and 2013 RFID Journal Live! Conferences. AA plans to improve both its brick-and-mortar stores and online ecommerce site to enhance its omnichannel retailing strategy. |
